This cross-peen hammer features one sharp and one rounded cross-peen face. The hammer is designed for anticlastic raising; its long, curved head matches the natural stroke of its use for consistent results with sinusoidal stakes. Raising hammers feature two wide, rectangular faces that are intended to be used with stakes to create forms in metal without thinning the metal—perfect for hammering concave shapes. The hammer is applied to the outside of the metal, forcing it onto the stake or other form, shaping it and leaving it relatively smooth (as compared to pieces raised with narrow cross-peen hammers).
